Class #1 - Riding with Finess

Local horsewomen, Leslie Andrychuk and her horse Canton 13 demonstrated
how she prepares her horse for grand prix jumping.   Also, Sue Alguire and her horse Dusty, with whom she has trained using natural horsemanship techniques demonstrated one of her winning dressage tests.

Class 1 - "The Confidence Game"

In this game, young horsemen, used the techniques of the Friendly game to help their horse gain
confidence and prepare them for the day's activities.  A controlled catastrophe provided
by Garry Meek got the attention of some horses and tested the students savvy skills.  (see photos)

Class 2 - "Stick to Me"

If you have ever seen a halter class, this class will blow you away.  Each horse-human team had 10 minutes to show as many ways, as possible, how they could lead a horse, with lightness and rapport.  This class is all about
synchronosity, that is getting your horse to match your movements, to follow you and stay with you.

Special Presentation

Karalee Bell and her 3 month old foal, Guiness" demonstrated how natural horsemanship techniques can have
great success in starting horses through easy transitions instead of sacking out.  This was Guiness first time
in front of an audience and Karalee demonstrated a natural technique to get him used to the sound of applause and accomplished the task in only 4 tries.

Class 3 - "Touch it Touch Down"

The goal iof this game was to get your horse to touch his nose, neck, chest, feet on something.  Every time a touchdown occurred , the human yells out "Touchdown" and moves on the the next object.  The more
parts of his body he uses to investigate each object, the better.  It is all about developing curiosity.  Emcee explained the different levels of touchdown, with a level 5 being able to get your horse to poo on a tarp.  Poncho obliged wonderfully and the crowd gave him an ovation.

Class #4 - "The Communication Game"

In this event, students  communicated with their horse in navigating a series of obstacles.  They  played
all seven Games with each object.  This was a test of how sensitive your horse is to your communication.

Class 3 - "Freestyle Frolic"

Participants rode an obstacle course to music.  Different forms of freestyle riding skill were demonstrated, from hackamore, to carrot stick riding, bridleless, and even Roman riding.

Judging

Have you ever been to a horse show and you just couldn't understand why the horse you thought was good didn't win anything?  Well now is your chance to be the judge.  During the course of the event, audience members
voted for their favourite horse by putting a donation in a container for the horse or horses they
liked best.  The horse who got the most donations for the OSPCA receivesd a special prize of a bag of apples and his human teamates received the 2009 "Dancing with The Equine Stars" trophy.  Poncho won the day. (see photos)
